Need Urgent Treatment when your practice is closed.
If you need urgent treatment or advice please call your usual
surgery telephone number. If the surgery is closed you will
be diverted to the Control Centre
in Ipswich. A trained receptionist will deal with your call
and quickly pass the details to a clinician working within your
particular area.
The duty doctor will then telephone you within an hour or more
quickly if indicated. (If the service is particularly busy then
this time limit may be extended to 2 hours.)
It may be that the clinician can answer your queries and help
you deal with your problems over the telephone. If you need
to see the doctor then you may be asked to visit the out
of hours centre. If you are bed bound by your illness or genuinely
housebound then you will receive a visit at home.
Details of your consultations are sent to your own
surgery by 08:00 the following day so that your practice
is kept informed of your consultation.
